LaRe was born and raised in Utica NY. At an early age, she was in musical theatre with “The Upstagers”, studying voice classically with master tenor Pasquale Caputo of the Metropolitan Opera in Florida. LaRe has a B.F.A. from The New School University in Jazz vocal performance & a minor in piano. She opened for Benny Powell in her senior year and performed for Barry Harris' 80th Birthday party in 2009. She is a composer and vocalist with a catalogue of original lyrics to the melodies of John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie. LaRe studied and worked with Reggie Workman, Charles Tolliver, Barry Harris, Chico Hamilton, Amy London, Sheila Jordon & Mark Murphy. She has had the privilege to share the stage with some of the greatest musicians Jazz has to offer such as Rufus Reid, James Weidman, Henry Grimes, Akua Dixon, Paul Lieberman, Aaron Graves, Bertha Hope and a host of many others. LaRe is part of the Jazz vocal group led by saxophonist Billy Harper. In 2008, LaRe was one of 12 Jazz singers in NYC's JazzMobile Competition judged by Dr Billy Taylor & T.S. Monk. She is a 10x award-winning songwriter from Billboard Magazine and five ASCAP plus awards for five consecutive years. LaRe performed at the Zenith Sky Lounge-Nagoya Japan, The Kitano - Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, and Sweet Rhythm. Her music is heard on WBGO, WHCR and WOR.
