Garcia Sergio Covarrubias Garcia was born on March 1, 1977 in Michoacán, Mexico. He is the second oldest of six siblings. He was brought to the U.S. at the short age of 17 months just to return to Mexico at age 9 and back again to the U.S. at age 17 when he applied to adjust his status and was approved on January 15, 1995. In the interim Sergio has successfully completed high school, college and law school. He has also passed the California Bar exam, one of the toughest, if not the toughest test in the country. However, because his papers are still in the mail Sergio has been kept from the practice of law in California for over 3 years and his case is now being reviewed by the California Supreme Court as a case of first impression. While he awaits a decision Sergio travels throughout the country motivating our youth and providing information regarding "deferred action" the new immigration policy announced by President Obama on June 15, 2012 even though he himself does not qualify due to his age.
